WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION

 

 

§ 1 | General Conditions

 

  1. The organizer of the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION is the Contemporary Stage Foundation, which has been entered onto the National Court Registry of businesses maintained by the Regional Court for the capitol city of Warsaw, Economic Department XII of the National Court Registry under number KRS 0000037243, NIP 5222623483.

 

  1. Basic schedule and timeline for the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION:
  2. announcement of the COMPETITION: 30.06.2016;
  3. deadline for applications: until 30.09.2016;
  4. consideration of applications: until 16.10.2016;
  5. confirmation of participation by qualified applicants: until 17.10.2016;
  6. date of the COMPETITION: 18-20.11.2016;
  7. grand finale: 20.11.2016.

 

  1. Information concerning participants in the COMPETITION will be published on www.warsawzawirowaniadance.pl

 

§ 2 | Conditions of Participation in the WarsawZAWIROWANIEdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION:

 

  1. Applications to the WarsawZAWIROWANIEdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION may be send by:
  2. Choreographers with documented artistic achievements or dancers 18 or older holding a relevant diploma.
  3. organizations/institutions which represent a choreographer 18 or older with documented artistic achievements.

 

  1. Choreographic routines may be submitted to the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION which:
  2. are autonomous;
  3. were premiered between: 01.09.2014 and 30.09.2016 (rehearsal footage is accepted);
  4. are neither shorter than 10 minutes nor longer than 15 minutes;
  5. are without scenography (excepting small elements);
  6. can be performed publicly for an audience within the technical and spatial limitations of the black box.

 

  1. Choreographic routines submitted to the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION may use any style of music and may employ the wide range of styles and techniques which characterize contemporary dance. Choreographic routines performed in the COMPETITION are limited to three people on the stage.

 

  1. Participants in theWarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION should make their own arrangements for insurance. (The Organizer does not commit to covering such costs for participants in the COMPETITION).

 

 

§ 3 | Applying

 

  1. A choreographer/institution/organization may submit  maximum two choreographic routines to the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION. Each choreographic routine should be submitted as a separate application..

 

  1. Application Procedure and Schedule:
  2. Deadline:  30.09.2016 up to midnight;
  3. Procedure: the application should be completed correctly, including an active link to the online performance and the declaration of acceptance of the terms of the COMPETITION in the application form.

  1. It is a requirement for the Participant  to post online (via Vimeo or similar)  recorded choreographic  etude  submitted for the competition to enable the use and download the file by the Organizer.

 

  1. Questions regarding the terms and conditions of participation in the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION should be directed to: karolina.zawirowania@gmail.com, wojtek.zawirowania@gmail.com

 

  1. Applications that will not be considered:
  2. The one which are formally incomplete, which are missing the required file attachments, which are incompletely filled-out, or which are missing an active link to an online performance;
  3. The one which are submitted after the required deadline;
  4. Sent by people or institutions/organizations which do not fulfil the conditions of participation in the competition as detailed in § 2 pt. 1;
  5. The one which propose performances that do not fulfil the requirements in  § 2 pt. 2;
  6. Sent by choreographers who submit more than two routines.

 

  1. The Organizer of the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION will announce the list of participants by 14.10.2016 on the official competition’s website www.warsawzawirowaniadance.pl and will notify the selected participants by mail.

 

  1. Choreographers who will be qualified should confirm their participation by 21.10.2016.

 

  1. Choreographers who qualify for the COMPETITION should provide the music to their choreographic routines in a digital file format (to be specified by the Organizer) between 15-31.10.2016.
  2. Participants commit to pay fees related to copyright of the verbal, musical, verbal and musical, choreography material used in the performance. Organizer is not responsible for infringement of author rights.

 

 

§ 4 | Jury and Categories for Judging

 

  1. Submitted choreography routines will be judged by a 5 person jury.

 

  1. The jury will decide upon the method of judging submissions.

 

  1. The jury will judge on the basis of: compositional, dramatic and musical aspects of the choreography, originality and ingenuity.

 

  1. The jury will present the Organizers of the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION their verdict along with a written justification.

 

  1. The jury’s verdict is final and incontestable.

 

§ 5 Procedure for the ZAWIROWANIA INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION

 

  1. The Organizer of the COMPETITION provides a theatre stage, a dressing/staging room and professional technical assistance. The participants in the COMPETITION must supply their own costumes, props and stage make-up.
  2. Flammable and explosive materials are not allowed on the stage. After each performance, the stage should be easy to clean, facilitating the presentation of the next COMPETITION participant.

 

  1. Participants in the COMPETITION will be able to have a technical rehearsal on the day of the presentation (approx. 60 minutes) at a time to be stipulated by the Organizer.
  2. Competition Schedule between 18 and 20.11.2016.:
  1. rehearsals:  10.00 - 18.00;
  2. performances of contestants’ choreography 19.00 - 21:00;
  3. jury deliberations, announcement of results:  18-20.11.2016;
  4. final gala of the International Zawirowania Competition 2016: 20.11.2016, 20:30;

 

  1. The WarsawZAWIROWANIEdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION is open to the public.

 

  1. The Organizer reserves the right to record, transmit, photograph, print, circulate and share all materials obtained during the  WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION. The Organizer reserves the rights to use all materials submitted in the course of the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION in publications, promotional materials and on the website and fanpage of the Organizer.

 

  1. The participants in the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION will not receive financial remuneration or royalties for recordings, transmissions, photographs or interviews made during the event.

 

 

§ 6 | Prizes or Benefits of Being Accepted to the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION

 

  1. Four prizes are planned for the competition:

1st prize: 3.000 EURO  

2nd prize: 2.000 EURO

3rd prize: 1.000 EURO

Audience’s Prize

 

  1. If decided, the jury can distribute this fund of 6.000 EURO  at their discretion.
  2. The prize amount is a gross quantity, and all necessary taxes are to be deducted in accordance with relevant law. The payment of the prize money will occur subsequently to the jury’s announcement.

 

  1. The Organizer provides a one-time partial reimbursement of travel costs in the amount of:

150 EURO for people from European countries (including Israel and Turkey), 400 EURO for people from other countries than European.

 

  1. The Organizer will cover the accommodation costs of all qualified participants of theWarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION in two-person rooms with breakfast.

    

 

 

§ 7 | Final Considerations

 

  1. Submitting the application form implies having accepted the terms and conditions of theWarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION, as well as giving the Organizer consent to process their personal data.

 

  1. In any unspecified matters the Organizer will have final right of decision.

 

  1. The Organizer is not responsible for providing participants with telecommunications services, including internet access.

 

  1. The Organizer is not responsible for any inability to take part in theWarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION resulting from a difficulty in processing application data due to technical problems,  nor do they guarantee that the webpage will be free of technical difficulties or errors.. The Organizer does not assume responsibility for loss or corruption of personal data which may occur in the course of its transmission.

 

  1. The Organizer reserves the right to alter the regulations of the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION, but will immediately publish any changes at the locations where the COMPETITION regulations had previously been published.

 

  1. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel the WarsawZAWIROWANIAdance INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY without citing the causes of the decision.

 

  1. These regulations will go into effect on 30.06.2016.
